- Diseases and insect pests of nurseries plantations and forests and their integrated management.
- Bio-prospecting bio-inoculants and beneficial microbes/ insects for plant productivity enhancement industrial use, bioremediation and livelihood generation.
- Microbial/ insect biodiversity and effect of climate change on pathological and entomological problems, including biotechnologies interventions
- Study biodegradation and bio-deterioration of wood.
- Provide plant quarantine and other services with respect to forestry species involving pathological and entomological expertise.

Infrastructure
Forest Protection Division is well equipped with all facilities to conduct various research activities to evolve eco-friendly management strategies for the management of insect pests, diseases and weeds. The division has three laboratories viz., Plant Pathology, Mycology and Entomology.
